Many already know the story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, but in this musical version it’s a fantasy for today. Mysterious, opulent, and fanciful set to music in a dazzling, lively mixture of gospel, soul, and rock and roll. A dream conjured up by Dorothy adventures in the Land of Oz meeting the Scarecrow, Tinman, and the Cowardly Lion on the Yellow Brick Road. While similar in plot to The Wizard of Oz, this is a retelling in a more fun, funky, modern version in the context of African-American culture. With music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls and book by William F. Brown, come join Dorothy and her gang as they “Ease On Down the Road” to the emerald city to meet the Wiz.
